Glenveagh Castle, Ireland

Enthralled in rich history (from the “Derryveagh Evictions” during the Great Irish Famine to the visits of Hollywood stars such as Marilyn Monroe and Charlie Chaplin) with a backdrop of astonishing beauty, Glenveagh Castle is no doubt one of the most fascinating places to visit in Ireland.

I am lucky enough to have family origins in Donegal, on the North-West coast of Ireland and myself and my family frequently visit. Nevertheless, we had never come across Glenveagh and were mesmerised upon arrival. There is an option to get a bus from the visitor’s centre to the castle but please do not do that, the 40 minute walk is completely and utterly worth it.
